Eve Saglietto was born in Nizza. She grew up in Paris, and
has lived as an artist in Munich since 1997. Up until 1989 she painted modern
pictures and became a scholarship for them in the Künstlervilla Waldberta.
Many solo exhibitions, a first preis for painting, and participation in group
exhibitions even in the House of Art followed. But animals had always been her
big passion. Being dedicated to the art scene she had continued to paint her
animal pictures, but never showed them. 1989 she decided to only do horse and
animal painting. Eve Saglietto rapidly became known, an d in the meantime
her name is synominouswth impressive horse and animal pictures. She has
developed her technik studying the old masters in Muse´e du Louvre for
instance, as well as other museums, and now masters it perfectly. She uses
black paper for the pastels, and uses light and colour effects rather than
decoration for the background of her oil paintings. She was the first artist to
use this modern style for her horses, and has in the meantime often been
copied. 1992 she mdeled her first sculpture. Since then she has presented a
sculpture every year in limited edition, and has proven her talent as a
plasticer. Eve Saglietto regularly exhibits her art in Germany and France. Her
pictures are owned by The National Stud Marbach, Museé Vivant du Cheval
(Equine Museum)in Paris, and National Stud Janov Podlawski in Poland.
Oil painting/canvas. Eve Saglietto´s oil horse portraits
on canvas, are painted in a traditional way. The oil colours complementthe
artists creativity, and give her many possibilities to play with the effects of
the light and, the colours of the horses coat. She favours painting larger
pictures, because the bigger area enhances the model, and gives her a better
opportunity to express the character and style of her project. What immediately
stuns one in her paintings is the impression that the eyes are living. They
appear to look directly at their viewer, no matter which side the painting is
being observed from. Eve Saglietto manages to capture this magical effect in
all of her pictures, whether they are done in oil, pastel or with water colour.
That is the unique signature of this artist. Best quality is very important for
Eve Saglietto, she only uses Dutch or French oil paints, because they are still
handmade. She only accepts the finest linen for her canvas. When she paints she
uses ferret-hair brushes. Due to the fact that every oil painting is done in
three layers, it can take up to two months to have the painting finished,
because of the time necessary for them to dry. Eve Saglietto loves to
experiment and is continually developing . Her new works show the animals on
simple sheets with sober, neutral backgrounds, which allows the utter power of
the horse to emerge. This painting style impresses whether being done in a
modern, or classical direction.
Pastel drawings As in the oil
paintings, Eve Saglietto also finds it necessary to emphasize the colour and
light effects in her pastel sketches. She always uses black paper which
presents the horse with a mysterious aura. A heavy handmade paper from Tibet is
what enables her pictures to work like a sketch, although so detailed.
Water colour Eve Saglietto paints her watercolours with the same
precision as her oil paintings. On the one hand she manages to enhance presence
of the horse she is presenting, without losing the lightness of the water
colour.
Animal painting Eve Saglietto does not only paint
horses, but also dogs, cats, birds of prey and wild animals. She always keeps
true to her motto that: "the expression of the eyes is most important". The
pictures appear astonishly alive, and yet distanced with the pure impression of
the animal.
Sculptures Eve Saglietto formed her first sculpture
in 1992. She has a passion for the animal sculptures of the 19th century, which
has an enormous influence on her work. Right from the beginning, her utmost
priority was to reflect her model exactly. The wax form for a complicated
piece can take as long as a year, because the artist wants to produce an exact
copy of the musculature and the unique proportion of the animal being modelled.
Even when the pouring is finished Eve Saglietto still watches over every phase
of the production of her sculpture. Every single piece will only be zieseliert
und patiniert under her direction. She uses utmost caution to ensure that the
patina enhances her detailed work. For special occasions, or private
collections, Eve Saglietto can also portray special horses as sculptures,
either as a worthful individual or in a small series. The art author Dr. Jean
Charles Hachet is aware of Eve Sagliettos work, and has presented her in his
work "xxx". The encyclopedia was given from the French Art Academy for the
"Grand Prix des Beaux Arts 2005", and is considered an absolute necessity from
collectors and lovers of animal sculptures.
